Welcome to Topic Throwdown. This is a place where we’ll all meet up, once a day, to discuss a single topic chosen by one of the site admins.

The admin will post a fresh topic, and it then becomes your job to discuss, dismantle and destroy that topic. Subjects range from concrete to wacky. For example on Tuesday you may be asked the best way to serve a Martini and on Wednesday the topic could be if Alaska should leave the Union.

Topic Throwdown welcomes informed and uninformed opinions alike. The only requirement is that you passionately put forth your best argument for or against the topic of the day. If someone calls you on your logic, feel free to tell them to piss off. If you can persuade others to your way of thinking, even if it’s completely wrong, all the better.

In short, it’s like a non-boring “McLaughlin Group” on PBS.
